How is it to travel during Lock-down?

The country is going through a tough time and so traveling has become these days. Traveling interstate requires a lot of research and preparation as the state-wise rules are different.

So, here is a quick guide for the researchers who are willing to travel during this lock-down.

1. The first mantra while traveling is to get yourself all covered, sanitized, protected and obedient to all the social distancing norms streaming around you. Before traveling makes sure you have got your own sanitizer, gloves, face masks, and other protective measures.

2. Get an E-Pass before traveling from the respective state you are traveling to, as they have their own set of rules to control the disease.

3. Make sure you have installed the “Áarogya Setu” application on your device.

4. Get your own vehicle if you’re traveling by road, as it is more safer and convenient to travel during this nightmare.

I was traveling from Bengaluru to Odisha via Flight when I came across all these norms. After booking my flight tickets from Bengaluru to Vishakhapatnam, I applied for an E-Pass to the Andhra Pradesh government through the travel advisory sent by your respective airline. I Filled out my details in it, submitted, and got my registration number. I have also applied another E-Pass to the Odisha government with all my details and got their confirmation via SMS.

The day of traveling:

I booked a cab to travel to the airport with an estimation to reach 3 hrs before the onboarding, as the new norms may take time. After reaching to the Airport:

1. I went through a thermal screening from a distance before entering the gate along with checking the Aarogya Setu application.

2. At the gate I was asked to show my boarding pass and identity proof through their electronic detector, making the security checking completely contact-less.
.

3. As I entered inside, I was supposed to get a tag for my baggage by myself by reaching the tag printer for respective airlines, punching in your “PNR,” and retrieving it from the system.

4. After attaching my tag to the baggage I was directed to the check-in counter to drop my luggage, where they again verified my details and checked my E-Pass.

5. After dropping my baggage, I moved upstairs to complete my further proceedings. I went through a cabin luggage check and a full-body scan.

6. Completing all my checks, I was waiting for my gate number to be displayed on the monitor. I moved to gate number 1 hour before the on-boarding.

7. Before onboarding, they checked my boarding pass, e-pass, and identity proof.

8. While in the queue, we were provided with a kit for protection, which includes a face shield and a mask by Indigo.

9. Now I am all set to fly to my destination. Yay!

10. Reaching my destination port, I again went through a thermal screening while maintaining social distancing and sanitizing my hands frequently.

11. After collecting my bags, I was sent to a counter to give away my details as seat number, travel destination, and mode of transportation.

12. Noting down all my details they gave me a token and asked to move forward.

13. Finally, at the gate, they collected my token and my bags were again sanitized.

Travel during lockdown has been secured and protected by the government for the safety of each of it’s citizen and their family’s well-being. Following the social distancing and sanitization norms, we can beat the bad times and win victory overall.

Let me know how informative it was and post down your queries if any! Be Safe! Take Care!
